The Beautiful Colombia

May 2, 2013 | Client projects | News | by Josh

Our trip took us through two major cities, national festivals, a gold museum, two quaint little countryside towns, a variety of mountain ranges, and of course, a mine site located in a large valley within the picturesque Colombian jungle.

The thrill of any shoot is often experiencing the unexperienced. Throughout my career I’ve travelled and experienced a whole lot. However when it comes to unique shoots, few trips compare to the time spent in the beautiful and vibrant country of Colombia.

About half a year ago we were hired by Continental Gold to shoot at their mine site located in the jungles of the Antioquia region. However the purpose of the films were not only to show the development and progression of the mine, but to also show the beautiful landscapes, culture, and business opportunities found throughout Colombia itself.

As a result, and to tell the full story, the production consisted of a whirl-wind tour of sites, sounds, and tastes found in many cities and communities throughout the country. In 10 days, we filmed and produced a variety of footage previously unmatched in Silverpoint history. Our trip took us through two major cities, national festivals, a gold museum, two quaint little countryside towns, a variety of mountain ranges, and of course, a mine site located in a large valley within the picturesque Colombian jungle. All while traveling in four separate planes, helicopters, speedy chaotic city cars, cliff side-car rides, donkeys, and long strenuous jungle hikes by foot.

Needless to say, the trip contains a variety of unique experiences: whether it be filming in crowds of thousands during the national flower festival, seeing priceless cultural artifacts, getting a birds eye view of Antioquia from our private helicopter, eating the best tamales to date, or riding donkeys on the side of a mountain cliff.

The team will never forget this project. It’s these productions where we can say we’ve done things few have. And it’s these films that continually allow us to shoot in unique and interesting places around the world.
